Information

My name’s Avery. I’m a learning designer, facilitator, and biologist. I love science, making things, and creating thoughtful & joyous educational experiences. My work has spanned both informal and formal learning contexts.

I’m currently starting a new role as K-12 program manager at Harvard Medical School, in the Office for Culture and Community Engagement. Prior to this position, I worked as a biological and environmental engineer at Harvard’s engineering school (in the active learning labs), developing, supporting, and facilitating hands-on, lab-based coursework.

Previously, I was a member of the digital learning + collaboration studio at the MIT Media Lab, where most of my work involved developing creative learning programming for public libraries. I also designed learning and outreach programming for MIT’s Space Exploration Initative as well as the Open Ocean Initative (now the Ocean Discovery League).

I spend my time playing violin, making ceramics, volunteering with local environmental organizations, watching a lot of movies, and learning new things (currently, beginner Russian).
